Hugo Hollanders is an Economist and Senior Researcher at MERIT (Maastricht University) where he is the coordinator of the Innovation Systems Indicators and Policy Research Group. He has 20 years of experience in innovation studies and innovation statistics and has been involved in various projects for the European Commission measuring innovation at the national, regional and industry levels. He is the main author of the Innovation Union Scoreboard and Regional Innovation Scoreboard which provide a comparative assessment of research and innovation performance in Europe at country and regional level. He has been a member of the 2010 EC High-Level Panel on the Measurement of Innovation and the 2013 EC Expert Group on Public Sector Innovation. He is also working on revising the questionnaire for the Community Innovation Survey which is used by most European countries to collect information on innovation activities by their companies.
